Has anybody applied for the Irish Holiday-working visa? I have applied for it but as i am in London the application has gone via Dublin to Canberra, Australia. They sent my passport back so i can travel in the meantime. Its been nearly five weeks. Has anybody gone through this process?

Thanx

I did get an Irish work visa, but I'm a yank and went through a student program, so didn't have this passport flying all over the place stuff... however...

I would recommend you try getting in touch with Jeanette, better known 'round these message board parts as 'ginch', or you can check out her BootsnAll author's profile and drop her an email. She's an Aussie (from Brisbane) who managed to get a renewable Irish work visa.

At least you've got your passport back and can still travel. That's good, but I hope the visa gets sorted soon. Good luck!

Hi OzGirl2000! [and Thx Ant!]

If you're Kylie, then I've already responded to your email. Anyway, I was thinkin' of replying to this the other day, but as I applied for my Irish WHV from Brissie, it was all sorted before I left Aus., I thought I'd have very little advice, other than to give the embassy a call [in Aus], explain your sitch/urgency and see if they can't 'urry oop' the process a little/jump necessary queues and/or hoops as required??? I know a hellova lot more people are crossing the Irish Sea to extend their time abroad/travels, so perhaps it's simply a matter of 'demand'... Believe me, the no. of antipodeans in this 'fair city'/'dirty ol' town has tripled in the last year... I shit you not.

If you've any other questions re: living/working here, I've been here for just over 3, so am sure I should be able to be of some help... [I also happen to work in recruitment advertising]

Ginch/Gingi/Jeanette/call me what you will... within reason!

big grin
