Anyone flown Air France?
Lufthansa? Scandinavian Airlines? Air Commet SA? Czech Airlines? KLM? I'm kicking around looking for some cheap flights and haven't flown any of these. Not so bad for a short trip, but if they suck I don't wanna go intercontinental on them, so just checking people's opinions... *********************************************** "I am a passenger on the spaceship, Earth." -Buckminster Fuller http://wanderlustliz.com |

lufthansa.. it's been a couple years but i remember the flight wasn't so bad (it was from LA to munich). the food was decent, there was a little more room, service was great. also, a friend flew with lufthansa before and all she could talk about was how good their wine selection was.

I flew KLM. Athens to Vancouver and it was great. Free booze, excellent food and snacks. Plenty of leg room. Also when it comes to attendants, it seems KLM hired people who knew proper customer service instead of people who were just great to look at.
And I come from a Dutch background, so i may be biased. |

Air France was great, KLM was pretty good as well, czech airlines is a partnership of KLM and Luftansana and Air France may also be in cahoots as well...

Began Gap Year Trip Six Years Ago |
I flew Air France from Paris to Tunis. I'd booked a combined air/Thalys (train) ticket though them (the Thalys was almost as expensive as the flight!). Our plane from Tunis to Paris was a bit delayed. They let people who had to catch another flight off earlier, but not me. I enquired with the stewardesses several time to find out if I was gonna make my train, and they kept saying there wouldn't be a problem. But then by the time I got my luggage there were only about 10 minutes left, and the train station was on the other side of the airport, so I immediately went to the Air France desk to ask if I should run over there or not, and they said there was no way I was gonna catch it. Then I was sent from one desk to another all over the airport. I asked if I could make a phone call to warn my parents I wasn't going to be home on time, but they said their phones only worked within Paris and refused to give me a phone card. I was told the train I missed was the last one. Then finally I was sent to an office in the basement where they would arrange something for me. They were very unfriendly all the way, not just to me, there were two girls in the basement office whom they asked if they spoke French or English, which they didn't, so bad luck for them - you'd expect people who work at a big international airport to speak more than 2 languages! One of the girls was crying, and they made it pretty obvious they didn't care at all. Anyway getting back to my problem: my tickets were in a folder that all of the Air France people at the various desks had looked at, I hadn't touched them in the airport myself. But in the basement office it turned out my ticket was gone, so they went "hey, if you haven't got a ticket we can't help you." So I said they'd had them at the previous desk, maybe they forgot to put them back? They insisted that that was absolutely impossible and that I lost them myself. I convinced them to call the desk upstairs, but they said they didn't have them either. So they told me to retrace my steps, I must've dropped them on the floor (which I was quite sure was impossible). Anyway I did what they said until I got to the previous desk, where surprise surprise they handed me my ticket. Back in the basement, they arranged a cab for me to drive me to the Paris Nord train station, where I could catch the last train out of Paris. So in the end I did get home the same night (though I got very little sleep before having to go to work the next morning), and I don't blame them for the delay, shit happens, but their awful rudeness (which I heard later is common for Air France staff) makes me very reluctant to ever fly them again. (on the opposite end, Ryanair who have a bad name too, were extremely friendly and helpful when my flight to Venice was canceled due to bad weather)
I flew Blue1, a budget airline which I believe is associated with Scandinavian Airlines, from Brussels to Helsinki, and they were absolutely brilliant - that was the most pleasant flight I've ever been on, and I usually hate flying. |

I flew on SAS (Scandanavian airlines) quite a few years ago..a short flight, from London to Oslo. But they were great!

Like Seraphim said: Airfrance sucks, mainly because of their attitude towards passengers.
Iberia also sucks bigtime. The food is the worst kinda bland plastic in the world. And I've been in a couple flights with'em where they didn't even give ya peanuts! And to make it even worst, there two airlines are the most expensive ones!. How I miss Swissair! Anyhow, Lufthansa is very efficient, they are quite cheap and I can't really complain about anything. But I must also agree with GB: KLM has the best service, and all my friends agree with this. They really know their stuff. |

Yes I've flown on 4 of them: Air France, Luftansa, KLM, & SAS. All were FANTASTIC! Air France & KLM are now merged, so you may see flights listed under one airline, but you'll actually be flying on the others jets...

I've flown KLM, Lufthansa and sacandinavian, they're all national carriers and perfectly good. If I had to make a choice out of those three, I'd pick KLM.

I flew on Lufthansa from Philadelphia Int'l to Frankfurt, Germany, then from Frankfurt to Zurich, Switzerland on a much smaller plane. The trip was fantastic on the way over, couldn't complain, no delays. What I found interesting about the crew was that the stewards were either busty blond females or very fit males. In other words, the crew was composed of "beautiful" people. Seems like they might have a formula for higher over there.
