I'm not sure if this has been done so apologies if it has been...

But I have already been thinking about where I want to go next year (2009).

I want to save up for 3 Trips, one definitely trans-atlantic.

I want to go to North America and start off in NYC, go down to Atlanta to see Friends, then to Orlando to see more friends and then down to Miami and back up to NYC either by Greyhound or Amtrak (my favourite ways to travel in the USA Big Grin)

Then I'll definitely go back to Paris at Christmas as that's something that I tend to do every year with me being so close to Paris and it being one of my favourite Cities.

And one other place - Possibly Salzburg, Morrocco or Istanbul as those places particularly appeal to me at the moment.

Where do you plan to go in 2009?

2009 for me starts out with a jaunt to Colombia, but nothing planned (and paid for) after that.

I'll probably make a short visit to Mexico in January.

The biggish trip I'm thinking about is Germany, Slovenia, Croatia in May-early June. Nothing definitely planned yet, but I did spend some time over the weekend checking travel connections. Love the DB website!

nothing planned - probably some work-related travel within Canada - but best case scenario, I'd spend a week during the winter in Costa Rica!

I hate planning so far ahead, but the problem is I have this long list of places I want to see. Some places have been on my list several years now, gradually moving towards the top.

In 2009, unless I change my mind, I plan to visit Western Turkey and the island of Rhodes.

I only have the first few months of the year planned out and its one thing I must do and that is plan ahead. I much prefer just hopping on a plane and landing in Indonesia and then going from there.

First trips for 2009 include:

Flores
Komodo Island
Sumba
Sumbawa
Lombok
Bali
Java
Sumatra

That's just the first three month!.

Well, what I am PLANNING Smile is, a true RTW starting in South America over to the parts of Asia I haven't been to and then finishing in Africa if finances permit. I did a short and sweet 10-week quasi-RTW in '05 and these one and two week trips aren't cutting it although I am thankful that in the current state of the world I am able to take them! So, that is my PLAN. Now, to make it happen...

I'm taking serious consideration into a couple of weeks in Sudan or somewhere in North Eastern Africa since I've checked out a few "reasonable" airfares from D.C. and NYC. If timing with school is good and bonuses hit at my part time job I could definitely do it.

If not it will probably just wait till the end of 2010 when school is over. It is quite possible that 2009 will be the first year since 2001 that I won't do any travel whatsoever.

I am planning on starting my RTW, though it could morph into a round the Pacific, since Australia and S.E. Asia are my only definites. I'd love to visit Japan and go back to Europe, but I don't know if I'll have enough money, and Australia may be enough of a budget killer for me.

I can't decide when I'm leaving, though - January 2009 or September 2009. I'd like to go sooner, obviously, because I don't know if I can handle being at my job for another 18 months, but it would be nice to have more money saved up and be at a better place financially.

I plan on studying abroad during the winter / spring semester in 2009, probably in Ecuador.

However, I don't want to miss the analog TV shut-down back home. Oh well. I'm sure there'll be plenty of videos on Youtube.

And then I might do my school's D.C. semester program in the fall.

2009 is Ecuador.

This three week vacation thing sucks, but...yeah, unfortunately I just don't think that I can spend my life just saving up enough money for the next trip, so I don't see much in way of other options for the time being.

If I can afford it I think my plans may have changed yet again LoL.

I'm thinking:

Jordan in January - 1 Week
U.S.A. at Easter - 2 Weeks
Marrakech in September - 6 days
Paris at Christmas - 3 days

But I need to save up quite a lot of money to do this though....I may come back to you all for help budgeting.
