Has anyone any experience of the free accommodation offered on sites like globalfreeloaders or place2stay?

Check out www.thesavagefiles.com and www.fliptophead.com to see a couple of differant guys and their experiences with freeloading.

I'll be putting it to use myself come September.

I am currently travelling through europe and have used globalfreeloaders and have tried using hospitalityclub. We stayed with a very nice guy in athens. He took us around a little bit and we hung out with him. Globalfreeloaders is a lot easier to use than hospitalityclub. I would definatly recommend giving these servicesa shot. It's free and you get to meet interesting people.

Is it safe however? It might me better to do it yourself...meaning that is more safe to find a place and travel without the stranger.

Some towns offer free camping accomodation - I found a Free Campsite at Bari (granted this was several years ago - no counting pls) in Italy. They even provided the tents if you needed one.
