I've pretty much come to the conclusion, that once I go on my RTW, I may just stay out for a very long time. That means I need to get rid of all my liabilities back in the States, because paying for a storage unit just isn't going to fly. So what is the best way to sell off my possessions? I know many of you have done it, so what do you recommend? From a new car to furniture to a plethora of computers, what's the best way to sell it all off? I'm open to any and all suggestions.

If there's a major city around you, you should have pretty good luck with Craigslist.

Either sell your high value items on ebay, or you sell everything in one lot... which might attract some attention from the blogosphere.

Letting an auctioneer handle all your stuff is a good idea, especially if you are in a hurry or can't be bothered with endless phone calls or e-mails.

I tell ya. I've been using Craigslist recently during my "Scorched Earth Leave Nothing Standing Sell Off Extravanganza" before I head off into the world. Posted five times. Twenty minutes after I have posted, four out of five times, I have gotten a call. That person has rushed over and bought the thing. Added bonus, I build in a higher price so that they can bargain me down to feel better, but Canadians aren't great at that, so they pay the higher price with no questions.

The fifth time? Replica Swords. No takers at all. I mentioned it to my Star security buddy, world record holder in smashing giant blocks of ice and concrete with his bare hands. He bought the swords from me that second. He bargained with me. I dropped the prce immediately. Guy could kill me while reading a magazine and eating a Joe Louis
