I just read this article Best cities in the world, very interesting... Copenhagen was voted the best city in the world for quality of life with New York and London not even making the top 20!
Do you agree with the results... what's your top city when it comes to quality of life?

But out of all the cities I've visited the first place I would have said is Stockholm.
I wonder if you would say the same thing if you had to pay taxes there...
But I must say I'm VERY proud of Minneapolis for making it into that list. Only #19, but Minneapolis isn't a particularly large city and usually doesn't make it into global lists.

I can definately see why London was not in the top 20. That is a city with some major quality of life issues. Fantastic in many respects, but qol? No...
Zürich, #4...hmmm...so low!

Compact planning, its "frictionless" transport system and infrastructure, as well as its contemporary buildings, top-notch restaurants and renewed focus on environmental issues...and the number of cinema screens
That is, quite possibly, the saddest, most soulless, WASPiest, please-make-me-as-comfortable-as-possible-until-I-die definition of a high quality life that I've ever read. One that only "researchers at a London-based lifestyle magazine" could present with a straight face.
And, based on that definition, I would've ranked Minneapolis much higher.

Yep. I glanced at the list the other day and thought it so ridiculous I didn't even read the piece.

Ah, yes, it all makes sense now. If it has what London lacks, it must have a good quality of life.

i would have to agree... quality of life in Denver is pretty good especially if you are into the outdoors!

I have seen several of these lists and they take into account infrastructure, public transportation, cost of living, cultural and educational opportunities but different factors matter at different times in one's life- when I was young and struggling, cost of living was probably most important, when I had children it was good schools and safety, when providing a monetary support for retirement, reliable employment and now that I am retired it is cost of living and cultural and recreational opportunities. So as you move through different phases of your life different lifestyles appeal.

Very true, but some things are constant. Weather for one. I can't imagine anyplace with brutally cold winters as having a high quality of life, no matter what else it may offer.
