I caught CNN's report on Ms Amanpour's visit to North Korea, after waiting nine years for a visa. Amazing how it happened to coincide exactly with the New York Philharmonic's visit as well.

However, it was an interesting look inside Pyongyang, the North Korean people, and the politics of the region. Overall, I thought it was a fairly well done report. Any one else see it?

It was interesting. Parts of it reminded me of when I went to visit North Korea (not Pyongyang). Like having to wear a badge everyday, no cell phones, having to have my camera checked on arrival and how to and not to point. The military presence is very oppressive. The glare that I got whenever they found out that I was from America (as if I was personally the direct cause of all their problems) it was very amusing. Only being allowed in a certain areas (if I crossed that neon yellow fence I would go to jail). How flippin dark it was at night it was scary. The place is very beautiful though.

Side note: I cringed when Christiane Amanpour said "Arirang." Eck! That song will be in my head all day now.

It was broadcast (or re-broadcast?) here last night. I like Amanpour as a TV journalist, but this was....eh.

Didn't feel like I learned much, other than the leader of North Korea is willing to wear high-heels so Madeleine Albright doesn't tower over him.

I found it quite interesting. I don't know much about North Korea, so for me this was very informative.

How in the world did you get into N. Korea?

With a tour group in South Korea (my cousin arranged it). They want all sorts of info before you go to. I beleive you can only get in with a tour.
