So that's

N.America
Portland
Chicago
Boston
Tucson
Phoenix
San Diego
New York

Europe
Zürich
Antwerp

Asia
Manila

North America heavy, but I guess that's what most BnA posters are really familiar with. I can attempt to do Paris when I go in November, but I don't know how Insider I can get as a 1st time visitor.

I'll do what I can for Amsterdam, though I'm still finding all these myself. I could probably do Detroit, too... but I'm quite certain the demand for that would be nil Razz

PS to all:

I encourage cheating. Which means getting other people to send you info, or ripping off of your local listing of cheap eats -- just try to check it out first before you recommend, or if a friend has raved about it to you so you know that cozy little recommend is not actually an overpriced dump.

A lot of my own "research" was done by reading up on other listings and stealing stuff -- though I've been to almost everything I listed for NYC (note the "almost", some of it I recommended because of word of mouth).

* Later edit -- on second thought, I've only been to about half the stuff I listed. *

Whatever makes it easy, I say.

*CRACK!*

(that was my e-whip snapping in the air)

Ok, so maybe loosey-goosey is too loosey.... If you volunteered, please start a post for your place today or by the end of the day tomorrow, even if you don't have info. It will be incentive to fill in your blanks & encourage people to post their own tips for that city/place.

Suggested Guidelines:

- Start your post (in the right Destination Forum) as "Cheap and Free (City Name Here)"
- Make a bunch of separate posts with just the category in bold. Don't worry about posting anything in them just yet, you can modify your post later, it's just a placeholder at the top of the post. Some suggestions:
Transport to/from the Airport
Eats
Drinks
Lodging
Entertainment (Year Round)
Entertainment (Seasonal) (because many places have more free outside type events during one part of the year)
Miscellaneous

It doesn't matter if you don't have a lot to post. If you just want to do Eats, Drinks, and Lodging, that's ok too, it will just get the threads going and other people will have their own tips to add on.

PEACE

Yea, i was thinking mine would be better off as a single post in a "Cheap-n-Free" thread rather than alone. It will get lost in the clutter.

London seems like a prime target, too.

Oh hell yeah! Definitely ms CG. If you want to do both that would be great, but I guess Toronto is the more traveled place if you want to do just one.

I'm going to make sticky "table of contents" pages in each destination forum for the time being; we might end up doing something else with these, but for the time being, I don't want to lose the ones that have been done.

As more get written, please let me know (send me a PM or an email) and I'll add them to the "table of contents" posts.

I totally love the "Cheap & Free City Guides" idea, and all those who have taken part!
