Oh! Me: Bratislava and Sarajevo, each with more to come.

Now that it's summer and people are traveling...bump.

Oh YEAH YEAH YEAH!!! Thanks maggiegirl, that would be 6 kinds of fabulous!

Wait I'm taking a closer look at your post -- would you be interested in starting a post and listing selective cheap + free info on Sydney, or were you posting the cityhobo link? It's a great link, but it's got lots of general info on there as opposed to specifically cheap + free.

Yeah, the cheap and free guides are ones that Boots members have created. I am certain that if maggiegirl were to create one for Sydney, we would all cheer wildly.

I'd say it would qualify for a free karma custom title! (But I just post here. You'll have to get a mod to sign off on that.)

What do you say, maggiegirl? Smile

I'm just noticing this post now after months of not having the time to login on too many travel forums.

I'd be happy to do one for Washington DC (although almost everything good in DC is already free because a lot of the cultural activities are government-subsidized). I could also do one for Taipei but I'm not sure it'd be as in-demand.

Welllll HELLO channamasala! Where's my video of the Dancing Sushi Chef? Razz

Washington DC and Taipei would both be GREATLY appreciated!

These guides are a big help to people going to these places. All of us are watching our money when we travel, and for some it really makes a difference in whether they can add a place to their itinerary at all if they know ahead of time some money-saving tips. I am sure there are people checking these boards who could use a cheapie guide to Taipei.

Felix, ditto on Minneapolis + Mexico City. Either / or, or both if you feel inspired. I'd love to have one for Mexico City, I really want to check out that place more thoroughly sometime soon.

Anyone else?

Bootie HQ: Where's Cheap + Free Portland? Surely some knowledgable bootie would like to sing the cheapie praises of that city?

yo yo yo

It's a new year. Time to build some good travel karma for yourself with an addition to the Cheap and Free City Guides we have going here at Bootsnall. Share the wealth.

That's my soft sell...

Anyway, these guides are really helpful to your fellow travelers. I see lots of new members on the boards who may not know about the phenomenal and inexplicable personal good luck ( really! Big Grin ) that follows the writing up of one of these guides. Perhaps one of you may want to write up some cheapie tips on Paris Dubai Buenos Aires Vancouver Cape Town London Sydney etc etc etc to share with the rest of us cashstrapped travelers.

Note: we have none for Australia, Africa, the Middle East, South or Central America, and only 2 for Asia so far!

A description of these guides is on the first page of this thread.

Click on any of the ones we have so far (below) to see what these are like. If you're so inclined to write up one, you can make it as short or long as you wish.

Cheap and Free: Boston
Cheap and Free: Bratislavia
Cheap and Free: Hiroshima
Cheap and Free: Kyiv
Cheap and Free: Manila
Cheap and Free: NYC
Cheap and Free: Prague
Cheap and Free: Sarajevo
Cheap and Free: Toronto
Cheap and Free: Tucson
Cheap and Free: Zürich

Also, if there's already an existing guide, add on your tips!

And I repeat my call to Bootie HQ: Where's Cheap + Free Portland?? Surely one of you wants to sing the praises of the Voodoo Donut?

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + +

"It was the most efficient campaign I have seen in my 20 years in politics." -- Sam Burrell, alderman of Chicago's West Side 29th Ward, on the phenomeal Project Vote! voter drive of 1992 which was responsible for adding 150,000 black voters to the Chicago rolls. This helped Bill Clinton and Carol Mosley Braun win Illinois in the '92 elections. The project was spearheaded by an unknown 31-year-old lawyer and community organizer by the name of Barack Obama.
