Even if you haven't been keeping track, we have - and 2008 marks BootsnAll's 10th year in business. So to celebrate, we're pulling out all the stops for our usual year-end bash - we want to make sure this is a party to remember!

Details are still being worked out, but this much we know:

Date: Saturday, December 6, 2008
Location: The Wonder Ballroom in Portland, Oregon
RSVP here

We imagine the festivities will start around 7pm, but that still needs to be confirmed. And we're working on all kinds of fun things, like special guests, giveaways, prizes, presentations, etc. The most important thing for now is that you (a) get the date on your calendar & start making the necessary arrangements to be here, and (b) invite all your travel-lovin' friends to come as well. The Wonder Ballroom holds, I'm told, in the neighborhood of 500-600 people, and our fearless leader (AKA Sean Keener) has said he wants to fill it. He's laid down the challenge, folks. Can you help him meet it?

Keep an eye on this thread, as we'll update it periodically as we have more information about the party. And if you're planning to come, you can let us and everyone else know by commenting here, too.

Reasons You'll Want to Be There
We're giving away prizes - and they're travel prizes, people. Check out some of the amazing giveaways you could take home!

Special Guests
Rolf Potts

I am, regrettably, skint. However, buy me an airline ticket and I'll do this as a single night out, regardless of potential damage to mind and body, and write about it for you afterwards. I really can't say fairer than that Smile

I am definitely planning to be there!

I'm starting my travel arrangements now. What is a good part of Portland to stay in, in order to be near the party?

See you in December!

For all those staying at the Glisan Hostel I have already organised beds to be reserved. I will start a post for hostel people shortly.

Don't forget the spiked apple cider friday night before the party.

Willing is the spirit,
But empty is the wallet
For buying airline tickets,
Alas I cannot borrow it.

And so I wish you happy
Times with jollity and song,
Eat, drink and all be merry
And party all night long.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at the party!

This just in: Rolf Potts (author of the book and blog Vagabonding) will be attending the party! He's the guru on all things long-term world travel, so we're exciting to have him as our guest.

And fondue with BBQ potato chips. Wink

Yes, Jessie. I am Smile It's a bit of a long story...but basically, I try to minimize my long haul flights these days, which inspired a six week long trip back to America; I've been working from home 80% for the past several months, have conned convinced my employer that I can work just as well from wherever for a week or two around the holidays just as well as from my flat; and I want to visit a zillion friends and family, including you all Wink

That's right, dear boots! The Snarky Talk Express is coming to Portland!

I am thinking about it. Its just a long ways to go for what would have to be a very quick trip. And I'd have to cram in a few hours to visit with my sister as well. This is the first time I've seen decent prices flying to Portland though. Decisions, decisions...
