Delta and Northwest announced today that they intend to merge forming the worlds largest airline. Rumor has it Continental and United will be next.

Soon we will have only about four or five major airlines in the US. I am concerned about what this could do to airfares due to reduced competition.

I am also a little concerned about my frequent flier miles disappearing.

I think we are at the eve of a major change in the US airline industry. I am anxious to see how it turns out...

I got an email saying that my Northwest miles and Delta Elite miles will not be affected by this deal.

Quote" You can be assured that your WorldPerks miles and Elite program status will be unaffected by this merger. In addition, you can continue to earn miles through use of partners like WorldPerks Visa®. And once the new Delta Air Lines emerges you can look forward to being a part of the world’s largest frequent flyer program with expanded benefits."

According to this:

If/when the deal is finalized, yes you can.

Yeah, you can credit them to either account, but once they are there you can't move them. (there are ways, but you lose like half in the process)
