Piecar, I am the same. I have eaten in McDonald's in almost every city I have ever visited abroad (they often have different things on their menu, like in Sweden, where they had veggie mcnuggets. Yummers).

Whenever I go in one, the locals outnumber the tourists, so I am surprised they were making fun of you.

My confession(s) are pretty paltry compared to all the bits of exotica I've read.

Whenever I'm on holidays if I go into the local pub I always seem to find one of their drink coasters in my bag when I get back to the hostel - you know the ones? The coasters advertising the pub with the place name emblazoned on it. And I'm constantly amazed at how they ended up in my bag. Last count I had around twenty five or so.

And I always like to bring something back with me. Some desert wildflowers, a piece of leafy flora, a state floral emblem that kind of thing. And I place them between the plastic sheets in my travel folders and they travel around with me all the way home. And no-one's ever been any the wiser.
