Knows What a Schengen Visa Is

Some rules:

* The list of countries can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries . Note that Greenland, Bermuda, etc. count as separate countries, even though they may be under another country's jurisdiction.
* If you've stepped on a country's soil, you've been to it, no matter how short of a time you were there.
* If you've driven through a country, but haven't gotten out of the car, it counts.
* If you've rode a train through a country, but haven't gotten out of it, it doesn't count.
* Merely having been in airport doesn't count; however, if you leave the airport zone for more than one second, you can count it.

Me:

So far, only Canada, U.S., and Costa Rica (3). I have a ticket for Barcelona next month, so that will add 2 to 5(almost surely Morocco and Spain, and maybe France, Gibraltar, or even Portugal).

Question:
How many countries have you been to (see rules in post)

Choices:
One
2 - 5 Countries
6 - 10 Countries
11 - 15 Countries
16 - 20 Countries
21 - 30 Countries
31 - 40 Countries
41 - 50 Countries
51 - 74 Countries
75 - 99 Countries
Over 100 Countries

Less than I've wanted to visit, and enough to know that the number of countries one has visited is immateriel to the KNOWLEDGE gained about oneself while travelling.

The United States, Canada, Australia, Ecuador, Peru, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, India, England, France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Vatican City.

21. So I juuust made the 21-30 category. Within two months, I'll be adding three more- Argentina, Bolivia, and New Zealand. I'm hoping to always keep the number of countries I've been in higher than my age (right now it's 21 and 19, so I'm doing well).

That's a rule of thumb! I like it.

I've been to 16, just enough to bump me to the next category. I'm going to add another three this year, maybe four.

(US, Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Andorra, Monaco, Denmark, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Thailand, Burma + Fiji, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and maybe Ireland later on this year)

That'll put me eight short of my age. Well, it's good to have goals! Big Grin

I've been to 52. The girlfriend has been to 53. She's always one or two ahead of me. Between us, it's around 80 different countries.

That was my first tought, too. But, my dear serious banana, he did make it a vote thread and qualify the hell out of "country", which the other thread does not. So much so that I made the effort to vote and follow along with it. Get in the spirit! (Or hand a protest banner on the GG bridge. Haha?)

42. Very inclusive criteria, JGN. Big Grin But, if you were to ask me in person, I'd drop ten for not being 'real' visits or actual separate countries. Shrug

Nationhood is the eye of the beholder.

stoo,

You've been to over half as many as I have. Does that make you a halfho travel slut?

Anniebannie,

I followed your link and found out that I'd already posted there - but have no recollection. It's funny how we remember certain things, but not others.

This thread isn't about self-knowledge. It's about how many countries you've visited. Yeah, it's a right-brain activity, but it's fun to keep track of. Not only countries, but states, provinces, and counties as well. But we'll stick to countries for now.

what if you've been to the airport of one specific country for hours at a time, twice a year, for every year that you've lived?

It is virtually the same thread, poll or not. It is repeating the same info, pretty much, that is in that thread.

Yes, it is. My right to create as many semi-redundant polls as I like, a subset of the supreme right to free speech, with which all human beings are endowed, is being threatened by Anniebananie's complaints. Read the Decl. of Ind. and the UDHR why don't you!

It makes me frustrated, desperate and jealous. I hate you. Razz

boards.bootsnall.com ≠ bootabpedia.com, there is not need to absolute, puritanical topic threading. Some, yes. Absolute, no.
