my physical therapist added some tweaks to the insoles of my shoes. specifically, some dense fabric in a couple of areas. i'm worried that the screeners are going to freak out about it and tear my insoles apart looking for drugs or something, making those shoes useless and screwing me over. what do you guys think? anyone have any experience with this kind of issue? thanks!

I believe the simple solution is to bus up to Vancouver and fly from there, where you only have to remove your shoes if they set off the metal detector. Or put them in your checked luggage and wear sandals on the plane.

Personally, I doubt that dense fabric looks particularly threatening on an xray, though I could be wrong.

I imagine you should be fine. I have some custom insoles that I've modified, duct taped, etc. and have never had any problems....yet

I have some super comfy walking shoes that have a gel piece in the insole. What are my chances of getting through security with them?
