Just wanted to pass a little tip along...
In preparation for an upcoming trip I purchased the Moon South Pacific guide.Problem is, this sucker is 1100 pages long (!!!)and the only country I might be traveling to in the region is the Solomon Islands (From Papua New Guinea). I don't like ripping pages out of guidebooks. Instead of making wasteful photocopies... ...I came up with idea recently, and that is to take digital photos of the pages I want and post them on my website (Privately of course - copyright). In this case, I took 1600x1200 (Probably could do smaller resolution - maybe 1024x768?) I snapped a photo (2 pages/pic) of about 70 of the pages. 35 snaps. Then I can read it at an internet cafe when/if I go / or just read them off my notebook. Although, like most copyrights says it can't be reproduced...since I am using this privately - no harm, no foul. This applies to any book one owns I suppose. |

Make sure you can compress those images, otherwise a 56k dialup will be excruciatingly painful when trying to read the pages, not to mention unkind on your wallet.
______________________ Don't worry, I tend to make a big deal out of everything. Keep on keeping on. |
