I may be missing something but where have all the excellent travel articles disappeared to? For instance, In the South America section there were a wonderful set of articles on such things as the Navimeg boat trip and another on crossing the Andes in the Argentine - Chilean Lake District. These articles provided wonderful details for anyone thinking of undertaking these adventures. These insights are for me the real value of BootsnAll. And I used them in planning a recent trip to Patagonia.
What now I find in their place is a smaller library of articles. These replacment articles are far thinner in specifics and of little value for the serious independent travel in planning trips. Have the other articles been dropped (and if so why?) or have they just been moved to another place on the BootsnAll site (and if so where?)
Please advise.
Many thanks,
Alex

what a splendid article!

Anyway, I have a sneeking suspicion that bootsnall cares less about travel writing these days and more about selling packages and travel. I for one much prefer the old days when the emphasis was on good writing and not people asking the same question time and time again on the forums...

Alex-

All the articles remain in their old spots and will never be removed. There were some issues with transferring articles so every once and awhile we find one that was missed, for whatever reason. However, the Navimag one is not one of them. You can find that here. The other article you mentioned is here: Andres.

Someone else had the same question you did regarding articles. Have you clicked on the "X-countries Travel Stories" link, or just looked at the stories listed below? Because we have so many pieces of content now, we can only display so many on the first pages. However, if you click on the "Travel Stories" or "things to see and do" links on the specific country or region pages, you will see all of the stories. For example, here are all the Argentina Stories

As far as content is concerned, read tomorrow's newsletter. I wrote it last week and it focuses on new content areas.

Cheers
Court

Hey PB,

Yes - that is an excellent article. :-)

Old buddy...have you seen our 50 most recent articles? Lotsa new writers and people sharing stories. In fact, we have published more in the past 2 years than we did in the first 4 years combined.

Now, is the quality the same?...hard to tell mate...

Also, what is quality. We have always strived to be a place where a traveler can tell a story...you don't have to be Bill Bryson to want to share a story.

As for selling travel and trips. Yups PB, we are guilty of it. :-) Actually, I am proud of the fact that we have found ways to make our community and website sustainable. For 3 years we couldn't make the site fiscally sustainable... Thankfully we were able to connect with travelers like yourself, find a need, fulfill it and still be here today.

Our goal is to cultivate an organic community that encourages independent travel. I think we are getting better at it over the years. Yups, we screwed up many times over the year and surely will screw up again. That is what trying and failing is all about.

PB, I love you mate and everything that you have done to help BootsnAll. What exactly are you hating and specifically, what can we do to improve in your opinion? I of course would love to hear anyone else's opinion on this as well.
