has anybody camped around washington DC? I am looking for a place that is relatively close to DC (an hour drive?) and has a nice wooded park for tents. I was looking at Mathews Arm in the Shenandoah National Park, but im afarid that it is too far away from the city...

I would greatly appreciate any input on this!

thanks,
steven

Good day sir,

You may get better responses if you:

1. Post this in the North American Travel forum.
2. Make the subject line something like "camping within an hour of DC?"

Good luck, and welcome to the boards Smile

Chris D gets the "honorary Mod for the Day" award. Well Done.

I've taken your suggestions - though I moved this thread into the Members Forum for now, which gets the most traffic - may move it over to North America later. I also edited the title per your suggestion.

Prince William National Forest in Virginia would be a good bet. About an hour from the city and they defintiely have camping. Harper's Ferry might be another option...not sure if they have camping though.
