Holds PhD in Packing |
Hello friends! I'm looking for last minute suggestions. I have decided just today that I am going for a two week stint in March. I dont have any particular place in mind, I just want to GO. I want to pack light, so I am looking for somewhere with nice weather. I'll be traveling in hostels and will want to do some writing and some photography as well. I want somewhere where two weeks will be adaquate to see at least a few things. To give you all an idea of the places Im interested in going at some point in time....well its endless! Turkey, Petra, Egypt, India, Nepal, Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia....okay, everywhere really. :-) I truly have NO preference as to where I go so long as I can afford it and the weather is good in March (April latest) and there is alot to see and do and it has plenty of character. So...I'm looking for any suggestions? Any favorite places you'd love to go on a whim?

There was a similar thread not long ago, but with a shorter time window. I'll repeat my suggestion from that one, especially since it's on your list.
I vote for Buenos Aires. It's awesome and there are loads of side trips possible like the incredible Iguazu Falls or winetasting in Mendoza. It's weirdly cheap once you get there and the weather should be nice enough. If you speak Spanish (which I don't) it's even better. |

I think that would be a nice time to go to Argentina. Spend a few days in BsAs, get over to Mendoza, where you can do lots of fun things (wine tasting, Andes trips, etc.), over to Iguazu, then back to BsAs. I bet the wine country that time of year would be beautiful!!
I spent two weeks there (based out of BsAs) and would have gotten a lot more done had I done much research...you can also go over to Uruguay for a day or two. But I still saw a ton and got some awesome photos. |

I like Belize in the spring and at that time of the year its not too bad on price either. Lots to do and the Mayan ruins are a blast.

i 4th the vote for latin america. i've only done mexico so far but the prices, weather, people and wide variety of things to do, easy/cheap travel = prime for short windows. good luck and keep us posted!
