AJV: They do allow spouses/partners/children in some circumstances! I'm willing to sell my "domestic partnership" to the highest bidder!

Capt. Steve: Thanks a million! We leave Jan 29th from Ft. Lauderdale to meet the students in Nassau. We hit Hawaii May 12 and San Diego (last stop) May 14th!

Congradulations! Thats awesome!
Im a SAS alum myself (Spring 04!) and had such a great experience with it. Have you gone as a student before? Or are you going for your first time as faculty?

Your really lucky - im sure the competition for jobs are fierce! I would KILL to get a job and get on that boat again! You'll have to keep us updated about your trip!

Kelly: This will be my first trip. I didn't even hear about SAS until I was finishing my Master's degree in 97 while I was in Kenya on a NOLS (www.nols.edu) trip. This is my 3rd application in 9 years (for 3 diff. positions). Would you be willing to talk live to tell me about your experience as a student? Part of my job is to do academic advising and another part is to run the evening "community college" series! The competition is FIERCE for the jobs, but I guess they figured I wasn't going to go away!

Tracy Ann! I'm not so sure I'm going to be okay with the boat thing either, but I figure I'll give it a go!

Congratulations! You are going to have an awesome time. SAS rocks and was the start of my travels. (I'm a F97 alum.)

Living onboard the ship (or The Great White Mother, as we called her) is really great. Most people are sea sick a little bit the first couple days, but almost everyone gets over it quickly. There is always tons of stuff to do and you are constantly surrounded by awesome people.

Enjoy! (And feel free to ask me any questions you'd like.)

How awesome! Congratulations, FunChilde. I saw this and took a peak at your blog. Sounds like I'm at a place similar to where you were when you started your trip this year. (Although you are much better organized and a helluvalot more confident.) You're truly an inspiration! Thanks!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! That has to be about the coolest job ever. And if you have annoying students, a little shove, and they're all gone. Not that I would ever endorse such a thing... Wink

Should be a heap of FUNfun, and one could only appreciate your elation if they had been striving for so long - very well done.
No doubt more of "Can't believe I'm being paid to do this"

Bon Voyage and safe sailing and where do we send the bids?

Zopa! I accept, based on your good looks and charm (and the second bunk). BUT we won't have any Krispy Kreme out at sea!
