Hi all,

I'm a 23 year old English girl, heading to Bali for the first time for four weeks in October - i can't wait!! I'm a keen surfer, so spending my first 2 weeks at a surf camp on the Bukit peninsula, but have 2 weeks after that to do some exploring and surfing.
I'm thinking I'll head to Kuta for a few days, has anyone got any suggestions for a cheap, friendly place to stay for a single girl? Close to the beach, and where I can meet some other travellers/surfers.
I'd like to go to Ubud but will have a surfboard with me - does anyone know whether hotels and losmen will store luggage for a few days?

Any other ideas for what i should check out? I'm also thinking of going to Medewi to surf there - any accommodation/advice hugely appreciated!!

Lots of thanks in advance!

-Ruthie

Surfing on the Bukit you will meet many people, especially at Dreamland, Bingin, Uluwatu, Padang Padang. Likelihood is you won't want to go to Kuta.

Suka Beach Inn on Jl. Benesari will store boards.

East Bali is a great place to chill, the small coastal villages, Jasri, Amed, Selang, Padangbai etc. Jasri has some surf too.

Check out Nusa Lembongan (island) there's surf.

There is a great place in Poppie's 1 called Mimpi (not far from the beach - I stayed there for 3 weeks and when I went over to the Gili's they kept my stuff (suitcase) for me in the office. Nice family, she is a vet and her husband is involved in the Bali surf program for Kuta area. The room I stayed in was 100,000rp a night but there is a pool to jump into when you get home from the beach - if you want something a little cheaper try Jenen's or Kedin's in Poppies 1. I go back every year from 1979 I have stayed at lots of places there are just so many good places to stay. Anyway have a wonderful trip.
