Hello to everyone. I have two questions:

1. I am flying to Bali on a one-way ticket. I know immigration requires an onward ticket. Do you know any cheap ferries/buses/trains that go from Indonesia to Malaysia or something? I kind of need something where I can buy a ticket over the internet and print it out.

2. I arrive in Bali at 11pm so I'd like to reserve accommodation in advance. Any advice on the best hostels or cheap hotels to stay? I would guess we'll just head to Kuta from the airport. Proximity to beach is key.

Thank you in advance to anyone who replies, it is much appreciated!

-Brian

You might try booking a ferry ticket out of Batam to Singapore .

They may not hassle you about it. If you arrive with no outgoing ticket put $20 in your passport, that should do it.

Toursim is slow right now. There is a ton of cheap accomodation close to the beach in Poppies Lane I or II.

Have a look at the link I gave you. There's a ton of options 2 miles from the airport.

I heard from lots of people that $20 in a passport is an onward ticket.

I arrived in Denpasar with a fully-refundable Malaysia Air ticket from Medan to Penang. The immigrations officer actually seemed disappointed by it. The next day, I cashed it out at their office.

Just like when I show the traffic cops my registration and license.

Many foreign airlines will give you hassle if you attempt to fly into Bali without an onward ticket. Australian Airlines would not let me board without first buying an onward ticket to Singapore. Same nonsense happened in London with Malaysia Airlines, but my Business Visa convinced them.
