Thought after lurking for a while - I'd join and intro myself. I am Bill and I live in Indiana. Traveling to Bali in early part of March *yea* lol. Just got my tickets through Bootsnall at a pretty good price. Get to spend a week there this time. I am definitely stoked about going!

Can I go ahead and ask a question ? I've seen around the net other sites that say it is cheaper to buy clothes in Indo instead of taking them from home. Is there a site or is there some way of knowing what to expect to pay for things while in Indo ? Things like clothes.... food.... cokes... water... things like that. any help would be wonderful Big Grin

Hey Bill
Looks like you will be in Bali same time as us----we are there from 3rd-15 March.Take it from us---seasoned balites--we take knickers and toothbrushes and buy clothes as we go.Everything in Bali is so affordable and available. You can have a great meal for around $3-4.t-SHIRT $5 shorts same.
Keep an eye on nicks writeups --he often gives addresses of shops, resturants ect and prices at the current time--think Nick works in USD so thats handy for you.
Cheers Laurs

found it and am on Novmember 9th lol. Great blog! Did not realize things were so inexpensive! Everything I had found on the net was from 2004 - and wasn't sure if the prices and everything had changed or not... but I am realizing that it hasn't changed much. Who knew that great meals could be had for $6 - shirts could be had for $5 - and really nice hotels could be had for $40 a night.

I really am excited to be heading there - and hope to have some wonderful experiences to share - and probably some not so wonderful experiences [like squat toilets lol]

Don't forget to get yourself immersed into the culture as well; you'll have a far more memorable stay. Nick's blog is excellent and well worth spending some quality time looking through his site. If there are places you like the look of, Google them and you can pick up some useful background information.

Have a great visit Wink

Bill, welcome to the forum, feel free to share your experiences, thoughts, questions.

I hope to meet you in March, and hear all about Indiana (one state I have not yet visited).

Bali is a wonderful place really, with a unique geography, culture and people who enjoy interaction. If you can let go of time / worries (I have to tell myself the exact same thing), Bali can be a magical place, and you can meet wonderful people.

Nick
