Hi there. This is my first ever post!

I am coming to Indonesia (arriving in Kupang by boat) in the next few months. I've never been to Asia before, and was wondering how safe Indo actually is at the moment for a solo traveller. The british and ozzie foreign offices say its very dangerous, but is that true? Will I get a lot of hassle from locals, will I be safe?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Mosh,

Indonesia is a huge country and Bali is a tiny part of it. I can't guarantee your safety or say what particulat locals will be like one place.

I do know that 10 years ago when I traveled through Bali, Java and Sumatra people were exceedingly friendly. Here in Bali you will not get any people threatening you. I think the Foreign Office puts out blanket warnings to cover their ass, just like the CDC puts out lists of vaccinations you should get before coming out here.

I say come on out and enjoy a new country in a brand new continent.
