Hi everyone
I am very interested in starting up my own small business that will be based in New Zealand.
Can anyone help me with a reputable web based supplier who you have had dealings with before.
I will travel to Indonesia once the business takes off but in the mean time would like to order a small amount to see how it goes.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!
Trinque

Don't have any direct contacts for you. You can find good furniture, both Dutch style, Indonesian style and modern in Seminyak and Kerobokan area.

If you come to Bali to buy stuff have a look around by yourself, compare prices. If a local takes you he is getting a percentage of whatever you spend. Maybe you don't care but maybe your price will go up.

Most people organize a container through one of the shipping companies. THey are in the Yellow pages and there aresome on Jl. Dhyana Pura and on Jl. Double Six in Seminyak.

Make sure your stuff gets dried out by leaving in the sun for a few hours. Do not let them pack it in the rain, or wrap it in plastic.

A friend of mine who has been working in the antique industry for 20 years told me that in Indonesia if you see a piece of art or furniture you like, but it. But don't expect the next one to be the same, whatever they tell you.

By all means start small and test the water. Expect some games with the paperwork. My friend paid for his paperwork one time and when the container was due to leave the guys at the shipping office 'lost' his paperwork and wanted him to pay again. He told them he was going away for an hour and the paperwork better be there when he got back. It was.

You can get some great carved stuff in Bali, and if you get a guy who sees the long term benefit of working with you it might work out.

Hi Saraminuk,

I have posted you a privete message on your other thread.

I am based in London at the moment but our factory exports from Java all over the world. I have posted advice for other buyers on this MB which I don't want to repeat.

As you are based in London, i will be pleased to meet with you and show you our product range here (East London) and discus with you the details and many pitfalls of Indonesian furniture.

I can be contacted via our UK retail website at http://www.oldteak.co.uk

Regards

hello there,

I'd say you get the best quality from furniture produced on Java, that's true. And for those looking for a good deal in furniture to set up a bar or restaurant as well as a nice deal for a few single pieces, you should try SQP furniture.
the man lives in Legian.
I dont like making publicity but i know he delivers good material.

If anybody would like to know more, just ask me oke.
