Greetings,
I am moving to Sanur, Bali soon, and would like to know the best area to live as a surfer on a tight budget. It seems like i'd like to be close to the break tandjungs right, or if there is a better, more consistent break in Sanur. I will be working in Denpesar and want advice on what neighborhood to live to be close to good waves...any suggestions?? Thanks |

Most surfers don't live in Sanur, its more of a expat family location.
Sanur does have breaks including Sanur reef and Hyatt Reef. This side of the island (east coast) is the best place during the wet season (Nov-Mar). The rest of the time most surfers prefer the western Bukit (Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Bingin). The good things about the surfing locations in Bali is they are all within easy reach. If Sanur Reef sucks you can hop on the motorbike and check out Nusa Dua. If that's no good ride over to the west side (20 minutes). Canggu out on the western side is another spot favoured by surfers, but is getting expensive. Generally Denpasar is fairly cheap to live. You can also find cheap places in Kuta, if you are willing to do without luxury. |
