has nyone arrived without outward tickets? I'm getting to Kupang (West Timor) by boat, then planing to leave Denpasar when I get there, but don't want to book flights out of Bali until I'm there. Will I have any problems?

I have flown in without an onward ticket before.

Sometimes they don't ask to see your ticket. The time I was caught without one the officer made a song and dance about it and said "I can make you buy one on the spot, if you do that very expensive...but I can help you if you give me a little something.

I gave 100,000rp and he was cool.

I've heard of people being turned back though without the chance to purchase a ticket.

If it was me I'd put the equivalent of 100,000rp in my passport and hand it to him without saying anything. They are totally used to it and openly suggest it anyway.

If you don't have rupiah use US$ or Euros, they know how much those are worth.
