Talking with an Australian journalist about Schapelle Corby, he told me that basically she believed to strongly in the Australian media. They convinced her they would pick up some of her tab and pressure the court using the Australian public's reaction to the whole thing.
She could of paid someone off early on but was seduced into thinking she could take them on with the media / country behind her. The Bali court basically said "F**k you, go to jail for 20 years." Solutions are always possible, but whether she has the resources to organize one is another matter. |

Thought this had been brought up some time back Nick and not much point in regurgitating the crime.
Corby was lucky to get off with 20Y and just because the media creates a circus on something they hope will sell papers or people will want to watch will never mean the media is behind anyone. I even doubt that there were many people in Australia behind her as there'll be many who think you do the crime you do the time. How many people do you personally know btw (not know of rumours)who have been able to get off serious charges by bribing the authorities? Let it rest! |

Schapelle Corby may be history to a number of people but there are still some that have her still on their mind.I would just like to know who she took the rap for?O.K she may have had played silly f****** but a young lassie wasting her life in an Indo jail is still a shame.Would love to be as candid as GONORTH but afraid I live by the philosophy---BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD THERE GO I!

i could not be further from a drug smuggler, drug taker or anything to do with drugs.my only link to drugs is administering the prescription type in my proffession--nurse!But for the grace of God extends to if you were not what you are, born under different circumstances ect ect It's an old tried and true adage from the Northern hemisphere --you obviously didn't get the gist!1 Laurs |

Laurs,
We are all born into different circumstances and with parental guidance you could say that some have less of a chance to form what one could describe as mainstream values than others. If we sought to make that a basis to excuse the actions of some in society where would that have society heading - perhaps just further down the gurgler putting more stress on professions like your own that have to treat people not able to control their own humanity, even putting people in danger including the elderly and those of non self-induced aflictions. You would be well aware of the pressure that medical services are under in Oz, and irrespective of whoelse was involved, it would seem it did not push a strong enough message to the Bali 9. Unfortunate as it is, hopefully a few executions will make others think twice of becoming involved in the drug trade and thus make it more difficult for traffiking. You would also no doubt be aware that long term use of Marijuana can cause brain damage (and yes, alcohol can too - the reason I drink just enough red wine for good benefits), and yes I'd be all for legalising marijuana use for medical purposes under pretty strict control, but doing that alone will not stop traffiking and the damage it does to our community in many ways. |

Smuggling smoke from Australia ínto Indonesia is stupidity worthy of a Darwin award. Twenty years in an Indonesian prison is tough. She should´ve left the grass at home. I have a hard time feeling sorry for any firstworlder who feels she shouldn't have to observe the laws of countries she's visiting.
The jist of the arguments for freeing her seems to be that she's Ozzie, and shouldn't have to follow the laws of countries she visits because their jails are icky. Fuck her. I'll devote my energies to a worthwhile cause, like raising awareness of the massacres in Darfur, or Cuba's detention of prisoners of conscience. I'm less concerned with a drug smuggler who got caught. |

Suck shit to her, she deserves it, there is no way she is innocent. I work in gosford on the NSW Central Coast and there are so many herion addicts, ice addicts and just absolute idiots walking around. I wish the Australian Govt would be more strict and get these dickheads off the street and in jail. The drug dealers get away with it here and it sux.

Personally I have nothing against her, apart from the fact she tried to smear Bali in her attempt to avoid jail.
Honestly, Aussies from the Gold Coast and those who live here know all about the Corby's. |
