Please dont judge me harsely for being an American. I hate our Government and Political Leaders! Im interested in traveling to Bali as a Jewelry Designer. How safe do you think that would be?

As an expat, I can assure you that pleading with an imaginary enemy will get you nowhere. Those few in Bali who dislike Americans will have nothing but contempt for you regardless of your professed hatred for your homeland.

Heaps of people from here have been there. So many, in fact, that we have even a BootsnAll employee who works from there.
Nick edits and contributes to the estimable Baliblog. He occasionally pokes his pointy little head in here to answer questions, that is, when he is not busy changing nappies.

Don't listen, Richard. It's a trap.
Static is well known for luring folks to Bali with the promise of unfettered leisure activities, but then he and his gang of beach hooligans kidnap said targets and sell them to local restaurants in exchange for barrels of arak. Unless you want to end up as several portions of lawar, stay away from BnA's Bali Mafia.

I was in Bali when the US invaded Iraq. The only hostility I encountered due to my nationality was from snot-nosed Euro and Canadian backpackers, not Indonesians.
To answer your question regarding safety, yeah, Bali is generally considered safe by most travelers. I'd go back and I'd even let my kids go there. That doesn't mean that doesn't mean that you can jump up and down on the streets of Sanur Ubud waving an American flag. Normal precautions should be taken by every traveler regardless of nationality. The US State Department, part of the government that you "hate," recently revised their travel warning for Indonesia, including parts of Bali. You can check out the warning here.
Despite the official warning, as so many people on this board can tell you, Bali is generally safe and one hell of a lot of fun.

Go. We have been twice and going back our third time. Do you think I would go somewhere with my wife that is not safe. I have always felt that they love Americans and do not see enough of them. I think Bali is safer than Miami.
