I need to book flight from bali to semarang for around 24 october. Problem is we dont arrive to bali until oct 20. Is there anyway to book a flight online ? No luck with merpati, garuda, etc. websites.

I do this regularly. Cheapest to book once you get to Bali. A good place to buy is at Lina travel agent at the Natour Hotel on the beach in Kuta (Hotel changed its name a couple of years ago but everyone will know it) used to have the Garuda office but closed now.
The office is upstairs (1st floor if British, second floor if you are American!!! make sense of that)

The only problem I can see is Lebaran - a major holiday for Eid - travel at that time will be a nightmare and everything may be booked up. It might be worth paying a bit more and booking in advance from home.

you may have to change flights at Surabaya but no big problem.

Let me know the current situation as I have to do this again in December and I am a bit worried about availability at that time of year. If you find anywhere good to stay in Semarang let me know, I've been going there on business for years but still not found anywhere acceptable!

The problem is noboday takes online reservations and they won't hold a reservation without payment. We just have to take a chance and get a ticket after we arrive there. My wife wants to get to Semarang for the holiday with her family but I think we may be stuck in Bali for a while. I guess there are worse places to be stuck for a week.

Re: Semarang hotels, I like Surya behind Sri Ratu shopping center for its location near Toko Oen restaurant and a short mikrolet ride to simpang lima. I've found most hotels are overpriced in Semarang for what you get as compared to Bali.
