Hi, I'm an Australia lady married (in Australia) to a Balinese man. We're going to have a traditional Balinese wedding (both ceremonies) within the next couple of years. My husband doesn't seem to know exactly what goes on at a wedding

I am an America Man married to a Balinese women. We were married in Bali over 5 years ago.
I had to have my teeth filed, change my religion to Hindu. There are different things that happen, but for me they treated me like a king. I didn't used to speak the language, so I needed a translator, (a trustworthy translator). I had to have things done to me, as if I was a Balinese. Cut my hair, tooth filing. Was held in the village my wife was born and raised, and the whole village was there. Feels like being a celebrity, but can also be unconfortable. By far the greatest thing I have ever done. Matt |

There's a lot of small ceremonies, dressing up in Balinese attire, make-up. Also a lot of waiting around and then the 2 hour ceremony which involves you following instructions.
The worst part for the bride is the head piece which is kept in place with pins (into the head). Don't worry, they go easy on foreigners (they only cut off a little bit). |
