hi,
i'm in bali for a few weeks. if anyone else is in bali and wants to hook up to split guide costs, for a day at a time or longer, let me know. i'm hoping to hit most of the "must-sees" on nick's list.

I am going To bali on the 9th of this month.
My wife & I will be travelling, she is from the USA & I am Australian.

I have been to bali before but have not done any touring.

we wanted to go to the volcanoe & various other treks that may be available.

I am going to hire a driver for the day to take us around, I don't have one in mind yet but I will definately put on the hard word of not taking us to their friends for shopping & making sure they are insured.

we will be going to Batur, Ubud & any other places that look interesting, markets, Temples, monkey places
if you are interested in trying it out for a day we could split the driver & or guide fee 50%,
How many are in your group?
How do I find Nicks list on the forum?

hi pat,
i tried to find the must-sees on baliblog. it used to be at the bottom of the page in "latest discussion forums" but i don't see it now.
i'll still be in ubud when you arrive in bali. i'm hopefully going to find a guide in the next few days and see what's reasonable in a day or two or three.
keep me posted on what you're thinking and we'll see if we can work something out. i'd love for it to work out!

If you wanted to work something out for the 10th I would be interested in going to mt Batur or any other treks, temples or great sights on that side of the island.

Hopefully you would have found a good tour guide & driver by then & will be able to give some advice on Ubud.

we will be based in kuta & if there is any specific itineary you had in mind we would consider it as we are just winging it as we go & will probably look at the tours that they have on offer in kuta & just hire a driver & go.

Regarding Ubud, there are some lovely spots around that area. Here is a the route for a 2-3 drive to the north of Ubud.

You should be able to rent a Toyota Kijang for 150,000-200,000rp. With driver that will be an extra 60,000rp for the day, you pay the for the petrol. Between 3 people that 's 70,000-85,000rp, pretty cheap.

There are so many great little hotels and guest houses around Bali that spending time away from Kuta is actually the best way to go. Then in order to explore East Bali, you are only looking at a 1-2 hour drive from where you are staying instead of a 2-4 drive one way.
