Hi;

Whats the feeling about the Conference in December ?

Major security clampdown, area and road closures, general hassles - or no significant impact for tourists and locals ?

The conference will be in Nusa Dua, which already has its own security (they stop all traffic coming in, ask you where you're going, and when you say "over there" they say "okay Boss."

Anyway this will be intensified I'm sure during the conference. I have not heard a single person here in Bali talk about the conference, might as well be on the moon as far as most people are concerened.

Kuta / Seminyak should not be affected directly although the number of delegates together with the holiday crowds may mean congestion.

I've heard a few locals talking about it, but not many. Like Nick said, I wouldn't expect it to affect much of the island though since it's in Nusa Dua.

Cayce,

Don't stress, there is budget accommodation in Tanjung Benoa , just up the road from Nusa Dua has a bunch of guest houses on the left side of the road. Don't know how good they are at taking bookings but you might give it a shot.

If TB is fully booked try some of the guest houses at Balangan, Padang Padang or Bingin. December is not surfing season do they should be empty.
