For those lucky ducks in Bali this weekend, enjoy the ogoh ogoh, its my families favourite thing in the whole world. We are so sad to miss it this year as my daughter has just started school in Aus and we didn't want to take her out so early in the year. We will be there for Galungan and Kunigan though, but Nyepi is my favourite. We are all so homesick for Bali, just last night my two year old son Krisna was asking to see Kak and when can we go home to Bali on the Kapal.

NiLuh don't worry, just lock yourself inside your house during Nypei and pretend you're in Bali. We can't see anything but the inside of our houses anyway.
Maybe your boy would like to meet my son Jevon on your next visit home.
We were in Bali for Nyepi in 2005 and didn't realise how dark it gets once the sun goes down. I went around the corner to visit a friend also married to a Balinese, Made told me not to be long as it will be dark soon, I said don't panic I'll be ok. Shit, the sun went down so fast we couldn't see a bloody thing, it was pitch black. Kak had to come and get me and then we had to get permission from the leader of the banjar to have some of our lights on. As my kids were scared and me being a westerner couldn't live without lights, especially going to the bathroom. but oh, how we loved the night before with Ogoh Ogoh. We should try and meet, I would also love to meet your wife, since I know alot of your lives and what you look like from this site. Can I attach photos on here of my kids or do you have an email addy. You should put a ride up on here with Bali Weddings International. I used to work there, great girls, I still keep in touch with them, and I miss the Balinese staff there. CAn't wait for July. I also heard from my friend Dyan, she works at BIMC, that it is now officially a hospital.
