Hi all,

Can anyone tell me where a few good places are to book some sightseeing tours? I don't have that much in time in Bali before I go and I want to make the most of what time I do have. I've looked at experiencebali.com, any other suggestions? In particular, I'm really hoping to see a gamelan performance - any idea where I could look into that?

Thanks Smile

Bali has a ton of day tours and half day tours. Every hotel offers these, and walking down the street in Kuta you will see small travel agents offering tours.

Evening Balinese dances at Tanah Lot and Uluwatu temples are easy to arrange too.

Day tours will take you to place like Kintamani in the highlands, Ubud, Bedugal etc. If you are on a short timeline and don't want the hassle of arranging our own transport, a day /half day tour can work.

You can also hire a car with driver for as little as 130,000rp per day. The way you go about this is to walk into any street side car rental place and tell them you want a Suzuki Katana with driver and you'll pay 120,000 - 130,000rp. They'll be able to rustle up someone in a hour and off you go. This will give you complete freedom. You can visit Ubud, cruie around the small village, stop take photos, then visit a dance in the evening. Ubud has great temple dances.

Good luck

Be careful when hiring a driver he may not be a tour guide, just a driver. We have traveled twice to Bali in the last 3 years and have used Merta from Sanur. mertagct@telkom.net.
He is very knowledgeable, trustworth, and his price has been more than fair. We had a driver once who just took you to a place dropped you off and didn't really know anything about the area. Stick with Merta. john

I was very lucky to have been introduced to Britham, (pronounced Bree-tarm), through an Aussie who lives in Bali. She highly recommended that I use his services as I was travelling on my own and just wasn't in the mood to join a "tour".

I met up with Britham and when I told him where I wanted to go and what I wanted to see he laughed at me and asked me whether I wanted to see "Tourist Bali" or the "Real Bali".... let's just say that I extended my trip by a further 2 weeks. I saw places that took my breath away and that weren't mentioned in the usual Tourist/Travel Brochures. I fell in love with Ubud and used that as my base. On Britham's recommendations while travelling around I stayed in some fantastic places for less than $20 to $30 Aussie Dollars a night including a full breakfast.

Honestly guys if anyone wants an honest, straight-up, no nonsense, no scamming, no changing the price midway through the tour kind of driver then Britham is the man for the job.

His mobile phone number is as follows: +628124669944. If you do use Britham could you please let him know that Jeanette (alias Mindless) has given you his number.

Well guys I hope that your experiences of Bali are as amazing as mine have been and will continue to be when I next return there to see all my Balinese friends.
