Since the new VOA ( Visa On Arrival) rules have upset many people planning to come out for an exteded perios one avenue might be a Business Visa.

I have just arrived back in Bali from a visa run to Singapore and my experience is that a Business Visa is not hard to set up. You need a local sponsor but that can be handled without you ever meeting the person through Arjuna immigration consultants.

A single entry will cost 500,000rp to set up, a multi entry 1.5m rp. You have to leave the country and file papers at the Indonesian consultate in the country of your choice. This can be done in 1 day in Singapore if you sare quick.

On arrival back in Bali you won't need an ongoing ticket, you will get 60 days and can extend for 4 times at 30 days per time for a cost of 500,000rp for the first 2 months and 600,000rp for the second 2 months. The ownner of Arjuna told me the paperwork is good for 18 months if I leave the country again before it expires.

This visa allows you to do research for business and attend conferences, but not operate a business. If I was standing on the street selling hotdogs for cash there would be a problem.

The initial paperwork takes 1 week to obtain since approval from Jakatra must be granted.

In Singapore I only needed 1 sheet of paperwork and 1 photo, although they'll tell you to bring 3 photos.

I used the 'agent' in Singapore that Arjuna recommended. He charged me $40 Singapore dollars and got the visa in 3 1/2 hours.
