Thanks for asking this question! I'll be arriving in Denpasar (or wherever exactly the airport is) at 11:45pm, alone and on my first trip to Indonesia, and thought booking a place in advance might take some of the stress out of it. So I'd also love any recommendations about where to stay and how to get there--even if just for that first night, so I have somewhere easy to crash. Thanks a lot for any suggestions!

Even though the airport is listed as being in Denpasar, you're very close to Kuta and Legian. It took me about 10-15 minutes to drive to my guesthouse, Villa Naga Maya, in Legian. Most places will help you arrange a private driver pickup so you don't have to worry about taxi haggling upon arrival late at night when you're probably weary and disoriented from the flights. So, I'd definitely suggest booking your first night's stay if you're arriving in the evening.

Have fun!
