Hi all;
My wife and I are revisiting Bali in December for the first time since honeymooning at the dear old Pemecutan Palace in Denpasar in 1981. Back in the day, I had to have an Australian International Licence, go to the local police station, do a couple of circles on a motorbike, and was given a temporary Balinese bike licence. Whilst the concept of two middle aged Brisbanites on a motorbike may be of concern to the local population, it's something I want to do. Can anyone advise me on what the requirements are these days for a motorbike licence ? |

I tooled all over Bali on a motorbike, without the dubious Balinese bike license. You may or may not be stopped by local police, who will hit you for a small bribe (usually 80,000-100,000 rupiah, in 2003).
Locals told me there was nothing official about the "temporary Bali bike license." |

Get an International Driving Licence from your home country and you will have no worries, or need to mess with the Bali licence.
