I had transcendental phish travel experience the other day.

Slowboat from Thailand/Laos border to Luang Prabang... These guys get on, like 6 of em, with AK 47's and some pistols. No joke. Wasnt clear at all which side of the law they were on. Turned out to be friendly people but s-k-e-t-c-h-y at least to me....

anyway, they got off, and i turned on 4/2/98 set II from the island tour... and its like i am so happy to be alive and in Laos, floating down the beautiful Mekong. It was incredible. The jam out of 'Twist' was completely epic and made the scenery and experience all melt together... (and no i wasnt on opium or anything else - 10 years drug free)

Incredible experience and it made me wonder... are there any other Phishheads backpacking around having simmilar experiences (and if so maybe we'll meet)?

(sorry boots comm folks is this is too narrow a topic - PM if so - still new at boots)

not really that intense but when you get to vientiane there are soldiers on every corner carrying AK's, I asked one of them where the bank was and he really wanted to pratise his english. so i ended up having a convisation with some kid while he was waving his gun arround.

Hey AG ! I wonder if we're on the same route. I was on the slow boat not that long ago and am now in Siem Reap. I totally know what you're talking about with the PHISH thing. For whatever reason, I don't listen to much PHISH at home, but always find it in my ears when I travel. Something about the music, the transitions and the scenery constantly changing out the window (or the boat) make it great traveling music.

My travel partner is not much for PHISH or jam bands in general so he doesn't understand when I get so excited about a song, show or jam so I'm glad you posted this!

Maybe we'll meet up!

Daniela

p.s. we're moving on towards Vietnam now...where are you?

There were young boys on my Bus in Laos with AKs. The AKs were nearly the same size as them!

I love Phish and I'm in Thailand and damn it all, I don't have any of my Phish with me. So I'm going to manifest some at one of the next guesthouses I visit. Maybe you could manifest some Phisheads?! Grin.
