Hi Stacey

If you mean cruising on a small yacht, yep, I've done it a few times and it's fab. I got hooked on sailing and completed a comptetent crew course so now everywhere I go I visit the marina, just in case they're looking for crew. You'll love it.

Check out these entries on the www.ecotravellogue.com, it will give you a few ideas.

I have seen round the world cruises on actual cruise boats. Usually someone owns the cabin and rents it out, and you can choose how long you want to stay on the boat. So you might jump on when its stops in Hong Kong in May and jump off in Sri Lanka in September. I got the vibe that it was a great thing for people who love traveling and are retired, I don't remember it being cheap.

I know there are some special RTW cruises that usually are a few months long and you literally cruise around the world. Personally, I wouldn't do it as they cost many times what it would cost to do the same thing yourself, independently.

There was a post about something like this once. The cost was prohibitive for all but the very well off, and frankly, the schedule was so tight I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it anyways. Still, it did cover most of the worlds important coastal cities, so that has to be good, right? Just rememb er you'll be hobnobbing with well coiffed people who wear pearls, Valentino clothes, and talk about their fabulous trip to the Galapagos or Patagonia, perhaps some guided sahara tour in an air conditioned camel.
