hey all

ive decided on this as a rough guide as to where i will go in europe.... i know its only a few days in each city, but its what i want to do (so please no telling me to spend more time here and there Smile )

Melbourne to Los Angeles - 2 nights

Los Angeles to UK (london and canterbury) - 6 nights

UK to Poland (warsaw) - 7 nights

Poland to Cz Rep (prague) - 4 nights

Cz Rep to Greece (athens and maybe islands) - 7 nights

Greece to Italy (milan) - 3 nights

Italy to Turkey (all over west coast) - 70 nights

Turkey to Thailand (all over) - 30 nights

i want to be on a budget in each of these countries, staying in hostels, eating cheap foods, using cheap transport, etc.... i will be travelling from august 2005 - december 2005.

can anyone tell me a rough guess in $US how much i will need to budget in each country for the things i listed above?

any help will be greatly appreciated

thanks

I'm hopeless with the budget questions, but if you decide to visit the islands in Greece, you might want to factor in a day of travel out, and a day back o nthe ferry if you go to some of the cyclades for example.

Good God! It sounds like you're cramming for some world travel exam you haven't studied for! OK, jokes aside, It is going to cost you more per day on average than you think. The reasons are many, including: as a 'new arrival' (which you will perpetualy be on your trip) reasonably priced services are difficult to find. ESPECIALLY IN THE EU!!! You will be viewed as a tourist and in the EU tourist = moneypot...ie you will get juiced. I don't know what kind of number crunching you've done, but I'm possitive you've at least guesstimated your costs. Add at least 50% to your estimate and that might get you through. Also, don't forget to factor in the exchange rate for your currency vs. the Euro; right now the euro is pounding the snot out of everything except the pound. If you're an American you can expect about 70-75 cents(euro) on the dollar(US) and thats if you change your money in the states!!! iN A NUT SHELL HERE ARE SOME very rough ESTIMATES BASED ON MY TRAvels: For the EU countries you will need $1,500 USD,( approx 1,000euro) which MAY leave you with a SMALL surplus when you enter into turkey. For turkey and Thailand (which aren't on the euro) you can make do with 1,000 - 1, 200 USD. This is obviously low budget, but that's how I travel. If you access to more funding, then the real question is...how much do you want to spend? Good luck and have fun.

There's no shame in seeking; we people have lost something.
