Hey there i've been sort of planning my RTW in my head for the last 2 months but now my friends have booked NY for paddy's day and i'd really like to be gone for then too and meet up with them there (as i'm going solo i think it would be nice to have friends around just for the first few days)

Would i be rushing in doing this.. i have a good idea of a route, also i have the money.. but i don't know exactly know how long i'm going to be spending at each stopover.. Also i havn't booked anything.. i hope to book next week.. leaving me with 6 - 7 weeks before i go..

I have been thinking about going for 5 - 6 months though.. should i stop talking about it and do it or will i compromise the trip by rushing it??

Any suggestions thanks!

I think the only thing you really have to consider is any vaccinations you may need.

Beyond that, if you have the means, travel.

My first thought was "All you need is your first plane ticket!" but Anniebanannie is right, you do need to consider whether you have the time to complete all the tasks that should be complete before you go--vaccinations, passport, any visas you may need for your first destination, someone to watch any pets, arrangements for your home, etc.

But, provided you can get all those things in order, I definitely do not think you will compromise your trip by not having it planned out. I haven't been on a RTW (leaving Oct 08-yay!) but part of the draw for me is NOT having it all planned out. I say, wrap your loose ends at home and get on the road! Smile

get the shots and get on the road - why not??

You'll have plenty of time on your hands on the road to research any particular things you want to see or do. I would love to be able to pick up and go that quickly - how exciting!

Different Vacc's have different times attached. I think one of the Hep's is 6 months. But do check to be sure and you can get them on the road.
