Google packing lists and see what comes up for other ideas. Also, search on BNA and you will find lots of info.

Bring more than one pairs of shoes inc flipflop/sandals

Bathing suit

Socks

If you are gonna be in NYC or some city, maybe bring a light wrinkle free button down short sleeved shirt.

cords--depending on where you are--are prob too heavy for summertime.

good luck

Could probably cut it down to just 1 hoodie. And if you start north and move south, you might not even need that, but I'd prolly keep it just in case. They're just so bulky and heavy you're not going to want 2 of them, and I'd recommend getting a fleece for the 1 you do take to cut down the weight and bulk more.

That looks about right. Layers is best for the East coast because it can be rainy and quite cool even in July. It can also be oppressively hot and humid. You just never know what you're going to get, and it can rain a lot. I agree about only needing one hoodie though, unless you make one fleece and the other a nylon windbreaker.

if you're going to nyc, take 1 less hoody, 1 less pants, at least 1 less t shirt... you're gonna shop til you drop and it doesn't need to cost alot. also forget about the skully and baseball hat, buy it on the east coast.

Honestly, Static, talk about bare bones! Your list lacks several essentials, like hair-dryer, hair-curler, hair-straightener, electric kettle, GPS, laptop, custom-fit wet-suit etc...

So August, September and October? In the North that's going to bring you into a huge range of weather conditions. August is usually the hottest month of the year. I'm in Chicago, which has similar weather to NYC. September is really nice I think. October starts to get cold, rainy and windy, especially toward Halloween. I am not sure about Florida, which is probably more humid. The thing is, with the recent global warming going on it changes fast and even day-to-day. Two days ago it was 50 degrees (Farenheight--I always covert for non-US folks but if you're coming here you can learn to use our wacky system). Today it's 20 degrees and hailing.

Cords will be too heavy in August unless you are spending a lot of time indoors (which are heavily air conditioned. I actually bring a sweater to movies, malls etc. in the summer because they are so over air conditioned).

Also, since you're from the UK, you will find that clothes etc. should be cheaper here than back home. We tend to be about a year behind style-wise though, aside from the high end shops.
