I need to buy a travel towel and have seen a Stormlite Soft Fibre Towel int he sale at Field and Trek.

Never heard of Stormlight beofre - has anyone tried this make? Any good?

It's about £10 cheaper than the lifeventure one my partner has and should mean that we don't get mixed up (I hate sharing towels - urghhh!). Don't want to get towel envy halfway round the globe though.

It looks like Rick Steve's travel towel I got. The same Micro-Fiber towel, no? That sounds like a good deal (depends on how big the towel is). I love mine. It dries fast, sucks any water out of you like unbelievable, light weight, and super thin. I'll say go get it.

if you're going someplace warm, try a sarong instead. you can use it for the beach as well as to pat dry after a shower.

After four months of travel, I can say I HATE THE RICK STEVES TRAVEL TOWEL. It smells easily, and is like drying off with a piece of paper. I wish I had better advice, but boo to Rick Steves towel.

Not long after I puffed out my chest and proclaimed with absolute certanty that it was not necessary to pay $25 for a travel towel, (since, after all, even the skankyest guesthouse provides them) I booked myself onto a tourist traveler cruise to Halong Bay.

The travel agent gave us a list of things to bring along.

On that list, it specified that I bring a towel. A towel that I did not have.

I managed to convince the grotty hotel that I am staying in to lend one to me.
I felt so humilated (about as humiliated as my weener became after I went swimming in the cold water of Halong Bay).

Yesterday, I went towel shopping.

I put on my 'Salmo99-approved' Ernest Hemingway outfit (with matching pith helmet) and then hacked my way through the forest with a machete until I came to the "Big C" hypermarket located in the outskirts of Hanoi.

Towels are about 80 cents each. I chose a mauve one.

I’d say PackTowl is good enough, providing you let it dry before you pack it again in your rucksack. Big Grin

I'm totally loving the REI "multi-towel". All that hi-tech quick drying stuff, but still a good feel on your skin. And comes in its own little waterproof bag.
