Okay we leave in 98 days for our 2 year round the world trip. So we came up with a rough itinerary mostly based on weather. In doing this we realized we were headed to Guam during a time when Tiger sharks are giving birth and so a really bad time to go diving. So we thought we would post our plans and see if anyone else sees a problem.
Our first three months will be in Thailand for a Dive Master Internship course but after that we are thinking: Cambodia – Sept 08 Vietnam – Oct 08 Laos – Nov 08 Thailand – Dec 08 Malaysia – Jan 09 Borneo – Feb 09 Indonesia – Mar 09 Philippines – Apr 09 Micronesia – May – Jul 09 OZ – Aug – Nov 09 (north to south) NZ – Dec 09 – Feb 10 (south island to north island) Mar to May 2010 not sure at the moment? So anyone know of any reasons to avoid the countries during these months? Thanks for the help! |

As far as I can see, Thailand is really, really busy at Xmas - which may or may not be an issue.
Malaysia has bad weather all down the East coast during Jan/Feb, so if you want to go anywhere like Tioman (great diving), or up the top islands, then that might be hard. And the same goes for Borneo, if you're off there, the vis gets better into the end of March. Though we'll be there in two weeks, so I can tell you then what the vis is like. Sounds like a cool trip though
