Hi All

Am trying to calculate, if Im roughly seeing approx
$USD 35-40 in Asia (South East Asia etc ) p/day

For a couple , would you add on roughly approx $20.00 per couple extra ?

Any couples out there that can give me a hint......

Well the accomodation would not be double that of one person..that you should not double.

Food, Drinks, Train/plane tickets you should double.

Accomodation in general for a single person is one half of total budget per day...I would add maybe 15% more to that for couple and then rest for food/drink I would double.

So lets say Accomodation is $15 per day for single ..I would make that $20 for couple. Add another $30 for food and drink for 2.

So around $50 to $55 for a couple (it a pretty good budget for Asia)

We've been travelling around South East Asia for the last 7 months and our budget as been $50 a day.

That is $20 for accommodation (which we have often got for half that, but having the higher budget gives you more freedom, and some places, like Malaysia you'll need that amount).

And $30 spending, to cover food and general expenses.

We have a book and keep track of everything we spend. So if you need any help on the cost of anything let us know.

Other than that we worked out the major things we wanted to do - diving, swimming with whale sharks, that kind of thing and we budgeted for them separately.

I just recently completed a 14 month RTW trip. If you go to my blog and go to the trip statistic article, I have my actual trip budget up. It gives my cost per day in all the countries I visited including South East Asia. It also has some airfare costs.
