So sorry to be asking a familiar question. I've been searching around for answers from other threads.
Any idea for a rounded figure for 8 weeks of travel? My plan is Seattle-Australia-NZ-Fiji-Seattle. I plan on inexpensive lodging so I can spend my money on the extra fun things that come up on the fly, like rafting through caves or snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, maybe scuba lessons.

Any ideas? Sorry if this is vague.

In all honesty, I would be looking to take at least $5,000, at least. Australia is very expensive and the U.S. dollar has lost so much value the exchange rate is almost 1:1. I don't know much about accommodation there, but if you want to do stuff and go out at night, it's going to cost you.

I haven't been to NZ for a few years, but last time I was there most places/things were more expensive than in Australia.

Thanks, I'm happy to hear a $ figure. Knowing that gives me a sense that this trip is doable. I've never stayed in a hostel before but plan on trying it for this trip. I've got a place to stay for two nights already in Victoria.

WooHoo, just got an offer to stay with someone in Melbourne. I'm thinking my itinerary might be a little too tight to include Fiji. It's always been a dream of mine.
