Hi all!!!

I'm new to this forum as a member, but an old reader since I decided to stop travelling for little periods and take a look around the world. I've read the FAQ about budget threads but every budget is a different thing, I'd thank a lot if you can comment this one: Here it goes:

Madrid-London
London-Beyrut
Cairo-London
London-Delhi
Delhi-Hong Kong-Saigon
Kuala Lumpur-Hong Kong
Hong Kong-Sydney
Sydney-Auckland
Auckland-Santiago de Chile
Santiago de Chile-Lima
La Paz-Arica (Chile)-Santiago-Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires-Madrid

The trip will be 8 or nine months maximum, the ticket will probably be a LONE4 (oneworld), and the budget I'm writing excludes the oneworld ticket and other expenses like visas, vaccines...

1 month max. in the middle east, 50€/day, 1500€
3months max. in Northern india and nepal, 18€/day, 1600€, (300 for the trip india-nepal and back, 600 for a trekking), total of indian subcontinent, 2500€
one month and a half in South East Asia, 26€ a day, 1300€
1 week in sydney and auckland (just taking planes and visiting some of the cities, no money for expensive places!), 50€/day, 350€
2 months in south america, 33€ a day, 2000€

Well, it's 7650€ for the living expenses, then the 3000 or so for the oneworld ticket, and I'll have 2000 for extra expenses like any other internal flight or activity decided while on the road...

Is this realistic???

thanks for all, folks!!

Unless you plan on splurging a lot, your South America budget should be OK. I spent a lot less than that in Peru and Bolivia, without trying too hard to save. Chile should be more expensive, not speaking from personal experience.

Enjoy your trip Smile

Those figures look reasonable to me.

You can get by on less in almost all of the places. If you were tight for funds you could reasonably cut up to 30-40% off most of them, though it would obviously lower the comfort level. Then again, you could also spend 500% more in any place. I think your budget looks like a happy medium.

The only one that (might) need some more serious editing is the middle east. Depending on where you're going, 50 Euros/day could be reasonable or a lot more than you need.

Also, the specific items in the Nepal budget could be cut down considerably if you wanted/needed to. If you fly between the two then it might be up to 300 (probably less.) As an alternative, there are regular bus services (most notably from Varanasi) that would be much cheaper.

If you do your trek independently it can cost next to nothing (Maybe 5 Euros/day for food and 20 for the trekking permit, depending on where you go and for how long.)

Sounds like a great trip!

wow, thanks a lot...

I thought it was not far from a stick-to-a-budget trip, beacause with that "daily money" I suppose to pay every activity... for example, I don't want a package trek in nepal but I'd like to hire a guide to come with me and get in touch with someone... in a 20-25 days trek I hope it'll be expensive. Middle East, 50€ is probably far more than enough, but I thought about a camel or 4X4 ride in wadi rum, excursion to dead sea... things like that. Anyway I'll probably cut it because lebanon is the more expensive destination and I won't be there more than 48 hrs. This daily budget is for sleeping and eating but also for buses and trains in SEA and for the tour in northern india, as well as all the overland route in south america.

Finally, I'd really love to have all this money in hand by now, but this is the goal I've made for myself to save for the trip. I ain't got half of that today!!!!

Thanks for the responses!!!
