Hi all, my very first post (and it’s a long one)!
So I'm currently organising a round-the-world trip with a friend and we've put Austin on our list specifically so we can see the Austin City Limits Music Festival. I figure this would be a good place to get recommendations on other festivals and events around the world that's worth seeing, especially those that locals know about, but international visitors might not. My first recommendation(s): Meredith Music Festival Annually - Mid December Country Victoria, Australia A 3 day outdoor camping music festival held on private farmland in country Victoria. It’s semi-hard to get to but the effort is well worth it, it has such a unique laid-back atmosphere (the festival is mostly run by volunteers) yet you get to see some of the best local and international bands out there. There’s another festival in mid-march called Golden Plains which is run exactly the same as Meredith, which is equally as good. Tickets sell out super fast for both festivals but if you ever go to Melbourne around the time its held, definitely think about making the effort to go. so any other recommendations? doesn't have to be music related in the least, just something worth seeing. |

Thanks ElAdi and bwoozy! I'll look into those festivals for sure!
RobinMarie, that's an awesome site! Will have to explore it further. One other rec from me (as its only just past): China/Hong Kong/Macau during Chinese New Year, because of all the lovely red envelopes people give you The fireworks are also great, not those big spectaculars though, my best memories are of staying in a hotel in Shanghai, watching fireworks be lit from the lower buildings' rooftops and having them explode between other buildings. Scary but sort of magical. |
