Normally I have a travel agent arrange my flights but I'm thinking about doing it myself this year. Are RTW tickets really cheaper? I'm an expat in Dhaka and it's not easy getting out of Dhaka. Mostly, we go first to Bangkok, Hong Kong or Singapore.

This summer I need to go to Lima (and Cusco & Iquitos), then Shreveport, LA (daughter having twins)and then to Dusseldorf, Germany and then back to Dhaka.

Air Emirates has a direct flight from Dhaka to Dubai and then to Sao Paula. I'd then have to take a flight over to Lima. The flight on Air Emirates costs $1,293. Just for fun I checked to see what the reverse costs was and it was $3,671! What the heck??

I'm going nuts looking at routes and now appreciate my agent more. Just can't believe the prices either. Since this trip is mostly for seminars, I won't be spending a lot of time in country, except for SA where I'll be training with shamans for about a month.

Anyone have any suggestions.?
