Hi,

I'm planing a big trip with my sister, should last about 14 to 15 months.
We have been working on an Itinerary, this is what we have at the moment:

USA- 2 1/2 months
Canada- 3 months
Australia- 3 months
New Zealand- 1 month
Fiji- 2 weeks
China- 3 weeks
Japan- 1 week
Vietnam- 3 weeks
Thailand- 4 weeks
Cambodia- 2 weeks
Malaysia- 2 weeks
Singapore- 1 week
Laos- 2 weeks
Philippines- 2 weeks

Any feedback/suggestions on these places would be great. Is there anywhere we have left out, can you recommend any must-sees?

For this whole trip we hope to have EUR35000-40000 together, stay cheap mostly. Does that still realistic & managable?

Any help would be super.... Smile
Thanks

That seems like a long time in Canada unless you plan on spending a lot of time outdoors. Unless there's something specific you're looking for there you might shorten that a bit in favor of more time in China or Thailand.

Where were you planning on going in the US?

The route doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Have you plotted out tickets yet, or mapped it on Google Earth? The order just seems off to me, especially in SE Asia.

Times: Singapore for a week is overkill. It's not as exotic or exciting as other places you'll see. It's nice as R&R if you've been in the jungle, but ... I don't see that on your schedule. And you only give one week to Japan! Take off some time in Australia, the US, or Canada. Cheap places in the interesting cities in the US & Canada are very expensive (i.e. New York, Honolulu, New Orleans, San Francisco, Montreal, Toronto). The West is beautiful for camping, if you are renting a car. Otherwise you won't be able to reach the wild places.

I agree that the US and Canada will be expensive. Even though the exchange is good to the euro, there aren't as many hostels and hotels are unproportionately expensive. For example, there are hostels in NY, but if you can't find room in one a hotel will cost $400. (crazy I know). I wouldn't cut down on Australia though (at least not by much).

Indonesia and Borneo are two cheaper places you could consider adding. Smile
